Embracing Future and Past Perception

Embracing Future and Past Perception

My mind floats on bended echoes

that chases screams in the stillness of the night.

Still this lies incomprehensible for my

words to translate from my brain to my mouth.

My diction seems to be stuck on a river

of friction that leads from north to south.

Transporting my mind frame back to the

days of civil war,

Where slavery was the tipping point.

But it's 2009 and my point

Is not to tip-toe around the issues of yesterday,

Because slavery still lives today.

It continues to fester in our minds,

Allowing our thoughts to bind our spirit

And imprison our ambition.

The mission should be to escape

The hard knock non-fiction of the place in which

We were raised and filter out the

Outside polluted friction that

Blocks your thoughts towards progress.

There is truth in the

Transparency of life,

You just have to look.

Look to have more than life gives you,

For we are the Presidents of our destinies.

The destiny of a people that lies

In the present and the future.
